Take Back Your Yard from Weeds
Utah’s climate creates the perfect conditions for aggressive weeds — puncturevine (goatheads), Russian thistle (tumbleweeds), spurge, crabgrass, and more. These weeds don’t just look bad — goatheads puncture tires and bare feet, and unchecked weeds lower property value.
Common Weeds We Treat
- Puncturevine (Goatheads) — Utah noxious weed. Spiny seeds viable in soil for years. Aggressive spreader.
- Russian Thistle (Tumbleweeds) — A single plant produces up to 250,000 seeds. Must be controlled early when small.
- Spotted Spurge — Prostrate growth that forms dense mats. Milky sap. Spreads rapidly in hot weather.
- Crabgrass — Invades thin lawn areas. Must be prevented with pre-emergent before germination.
- Dandelions & Clover — Common broadleaf weeds in irrigated lawns.
- Nutsedge — Looks like grass but grows faster. Thrives in wet, irrigated areas.
Our Weed Control Approach
Pre-Emergent Applications
The most important step in weed control. We apply pre-emergent herbicides in late February to early March (when soil temperatures reach 50-60°F) to prevent weed seeds from germinating. A fall application provides additional protection for winter weeds.
Post-Emergent Treatments
For weeds that are already growing, we use targeted post-emergent treatments that kill the weed without harming your desired plants and lawn.
Ongoing Management
Quarterly visits ensure weeds are caught early before they spread and set seed. Consistent treatment year after year reduces the weed seed bank in your soil.
Why Professional Weed Control?
DIY weed control often fails because timing is everything. Apply pre-emergent too late and it’s wasted. Miss a season and you’re fighting established weeds all year. Our technicians know exactly when and what to apply for your specific area.
